Witnesses won't speak up after another block party shooting in Detroit

Several people are recovering after another shooting at a block party in Detroit over the weekend.

This is the third block party shooting police are investigating in less than two weeks.

This one happened in front of a car wash in the 12300 block of Gratiot Avenue Sunday night. Five people were injured.

Detroit Police Spokeswoman Cassandra Lewis says there were two 19-year-old victims, a 14-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 29-year-old. All five victims are said to be in "temporary serious" condition.

Police say hundreds of people were at the block party when the shooting occurred, yet they are having a hard time getting witnesses to cooperate with the investigation. They say no one has provided information about the shooter or the getaway vehicle.

The same thing happened with a lack of witness cooperation after 12 people were shot and one person was killed at a block party last weekend on the city's west side. Police are also investigating a block party shooting in which four people were injured Friday evening

If you know anything about either crime, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You will remain anonymous.
