Woman tased after leading state police on chase; trooper injured in related crash

A Michigan State Police trooper was hospitalized Wednesday after being involved in a crash and a woman taken into custody after leading police on a brief chase around the city of Berkley.

Michigan State Police say they were pursuing a woman driving a white Volvo for a traffic violation.

The woman would eventually stop and lead police on a short foot pursuit before she was tased and taken into custody by officers.

Another trooper responding to the scene crashed at 11 Mile Road and Coolidge.

The trooper and the woman driver of the other vehicle in the accident both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Beaumont hospital where they both are expected to be ok.
