ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) - The Detroit Lions cut running back Joique Bell Tuesday.
Bell, a former Wayne State University standout from Benton Harbor, is 29 years old. He took to Twitter to thank the fans.
Last season he rushed for 311 yards and four touchdowns with his time limited due to injury. His best year was in 2014 when Bell tallied 860 rushing with seven touchdowns.
On March 11, 2014, he signed a two-year, $7 million contract extension with $4.3 million in guaranteed money, according to an Associated Press report. Bell had been owed $2.5 million this season according to various reports.
It is the first significant roster move by new General Manager Bob Quinn.
