Lions draft Reeves-Maybin, Roberts, Agnew, Ledbetter, Kaaya & O'Connor on third day

The Detroit Lions were back at it for one last day Saturday as rounds four through seven of the 2017 NFL Draft occurred.  

The Lions selected LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin out of Tennessee with the 124th overall pick and selected TE Michael Roberts out of Toledo with the 127th overall pick both in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

Reeves-Maybin, 6'0" and 230 pounds, had a great 2015 season when he had 105 tackles with 14 for loss.  His 2016 season was cut short due to injuries, including a left shoulder injury.  He was also ejected in the first game of the season for targeting.  In 2016 he started four games and had 20 tackles.  He ended his career at Tennessee with 149 tackles in 41 games and four forced fumbles.  

Here were some of the highlights from his conference call:

Roberts, 6'4" and 270 pounds, was first-team All-MAC in 2016 with 16 touchdowns on 45 receptions and 533 total yards.  In 2015, the Ohio native had four touchdowns on 21 receptions and 234 yards.  He ran a 4.86 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and had 22 career touchdowns.

The Lions selected DB Jamal Agnew from San Diego with the 165th pick (5th round) in the NFL Draft.

Agnew, 5'10" and pounds, had eleven interceptions and 48 pass break ups during his collegiate career.  He ran a 4.32 and 4.35 40-yard dash during his pro day and had one punt return touchdown his senior season.  The 2016 All-Pioneer Football League First-Team Defense selection was also voted team defensive MVP in 2015.

The Lions selected DE Jeremiah Ledbetter from Arkansas with the 205th pick (6th round) in the NFL Draft.

Ledbetter, 6'3" and 280 pounds, had 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks in his final year at Arkansas.  The Florida native, ended his career with 104 total tackles and 7.5 sacks for the Razorbacks.  He ran a 4.84 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and did 29 reps of 225 pounds.

Here were some of the highlights from his conference call: 

The Lions selected QB Brad Kaaya from Miami with the 215th pick (6th round) in the NFL Draft.

Kaaya, 6'4" and 214 pounds, threw for 27 touchdowns with seven interceptions for 3,532 yards and a 62.0 completion percentage.  The Los Angeles native threw for 9,968 yards over 38 games (started three seasons) for the Hurricanes with 69 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.  He is the all-time leading passer in Miami history.

The Lions selected DE Pat O'Connor from Eastern Michigan University with the 250th pick (7th round) in the NFL Draft. O'Connor, 6'4" and 276 pounds, had 19.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles during his career at Eastern Michigan plus was a 2016 All-Mac First Team selection.  O'Connor and Lions' draft pick Kenny Golladay went to high school together.
