The Detroit Lions have named Bob Quinn as their General Manager.

FOX 2 Sports Director Dan Miller confirmed that the Lions have agreed in principle with Quinn Friday and on Sunday the Lions hired Ernie Accorsi as a permanent member of their front office as special advisor to new Lions President Rod Wood.  Accorsi will be part-time and won't have an office in Allen Park.

Quinn has been with the New England Patriots since 2000 when he started as the Player Personnel Assistant and has worked his way up to Director of Pro Scouting where he's been since 2012.

He is one of the few that is part of Bill Belichick's inner circle and has been a part of their four Super Bowl wins with the latest coming last season.

Quinn was born in 1976 and started his career as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Connecticut in 1998.

Accorsi, who is an NFL veteran general manager/consultant, was brought in originally just to consult during the general manager search.
