MSU keeps national title hopes alive, beat OSU

Ohio State's bid to repeat as college football's national champions is likely over.

The second-ranked Buckeyes saw their 23-game winning streak end with a 17-14 home loss against No. 9 Michigan State.

Michael Geiger kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired to put the 10-1 Spartans in control of the Big Ten East and ruin OSU's bid to repeat as nationals champions.

The Buckeyes gained just 132 total yards and failed to take advantage of the absence of Spartans injured quarterback Connor Cook.

It's the first time Ohio State has lost a Big Ten game in the regular season since Urban Meyer became coach four seasons ago.

The Spartans now control its own fate and can clinch a Big Ten conference championship game berth with a win against Penn State next weekend.
