Lions' Announce Rashean Mathis to Retire

According to the Detroit Lions, cornerback Rashean Mathis will retire following a 13 season career.  Mathis, 35, has played for the Lions the last three seasons and has 32 career interceptions with four touchdowns.  He also made the Pro Bowl in 2006 and had eight career forced fumbles.

Mathis played the first ten years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being a second round pick out of Bethune-Cookman in 2003.

A concussion ended Mathis' season last year after signing a two-year, 3.5 million dollar contract prior to the 2015 season.
