DETROIT (WJBK) - This winter, the Detroit Red Wings will play their final season in Joe Louis Arena and the team plans to honor some of the greatest hockey players in the team's history with giveaways to Red Wings fans.
The Red Wings announced their promotional schedule on Tuesday for the farewell season at the Joe. After 38 years on the ice, the Wings are moving to the Little Caeser's Arena starting next season.
Fans can hold on to the history in several ways. From a Gordie Howe poster to Joe Mini Stick - the entire season will be covered. Here are a few highlights:
Monday, Oct. 17 (opening night vs. the Senators): Gordie Howe poster and rally towels to all fans
Tuesday, October 25: Dylan Larkin Bobblehead (first 5,000 fans)
Friday, November 4: Gordie Howe statue replica (first 5,000 fans)
Tuesday, November 29: Ted Lindsay statue replica (first 5,000 fans)
Thursday, December 15: Joe Louis Arena Championship banner flag (first 5,000 fans)
Wednesday, January 18: 1998 Championship celebration poster (first 5,000 fans)
