SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - FOX 2's Woody Woodriffe was joined by Bob Wojnowski & Jamie Samuelsen Sunday night on the SportsWorks roundtable as they talked about the Lions' first half of the season and their ability to be "resilient." They also talked how fortunate they are to have Matthew Stafford, but also how they have strong special teams with an average defense. Jacksonville is coming to town on Sunday and the guys talked how the Lions have to be on full alert now they are first in their division.
The crew then moved on to the rough weekend Michigan football had in Iowa and how it doesn't hurt them too much as long as they win out including winning at Ohio State. They also talked about how Wilton Speight took a step back and how Michigan really struggled on third down.
The guys then moved on to Michigan State as they beat Rutgers to snap their losing streak, but they weren't sure if it will carry over much for the Ohio State game this upcoming weekend.
Red Wings and Pistons were next up on the roundtable and how both teams are having kind of up and down seasons. They talked how the Red Wings are who they thought they are and the rough outing in Montreal. They also talked how Anthony Mantha needs to play both ways if he wants to stay at the NHL level. They then moved on to the defensive struggles of the Pistons and Andre Drummond really struggling on that side of the court, but is doing better at the free throw line.
They stayed with the basketball theme and moved on to college basketball as they broke down Michigan and Michigan State so far and what, if anything, could be taken in the first weekend of the season.
Make sure to watch SportsWorks at 11pm every Sunday.
