WATCH: Aybar & Avila Talk Tigers Trade of Mike Aviles & Kade Scivicque for Erick Aybar

- Just a few minutes before their Tuesday night game against the Kansas City Royals, the Detroit Tigers announced they have acquired infielder Erick Aybar from the Atlanta Braves for utility man Mike Aviles and catcher Kade Scivicque.

Aybar, 32, has played in 1317 regular season games during his 11 year career.  He is batting .242 this season with two home runs and 26 RBI, but is a career .274 hitter.  He has played in 17 postseason games -- all for the Angels -- and has 16 hits and 4 RBI.  The Tigers will be Aybar's third team.  

Tigers' General Manager Al Avila spoke before Tuesday's game.

Aviles, 35 is batting .210 this season with one home run and six RBI.  Scivicque is 23 years old and currently with Single A Lakeland.  

Steven Moya was recalled for Tuesday's game.
