We're hiring a Digital Content Creator to be part of our next-level team at WJBK/Fox 2 in Detroit. Reporting to the Digital Content Director, the Digital Content Creator will be laser-focused on telling stories that matter most to digital and social users-- and doing it better than anyone else. Create compelling, UX-focused content related to news, events and topics relevant to local users and beyond, including text stories, photos/graphics, live streaming content, breaking news, and social media elements. Engage and build loyalty among communities. Serve as liaison to newsroom, ensuring digital and social dominance. Reach and engage users on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and beyond. Work with Group Content Team and other FTS markets to distribute high-interest stories at scale. Follow group standards. Monitor real-time analytics. Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned.
3+ years’ experience developing and publishing content, including news, on digital and social platforms preferred. BA/BS degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field with emphasis on digital publishing. Excellent writer and story teller. Superior news judgment. Impeccable writing and copy editing skills. Overwhelming attention to detail. Thrive under deadline pressure. Stellar communication skills. Social media expert. Proficient in content management systems, video publishing, live streaming, and digital analytics tools. Video and photo editing experience (Adobe products a plus). Sports Producer (Part-Time/Temporary)
WJBK-FOX 2 is seeking a versatile candidate with extensive knowledge of local, college and professional sports and experience covering it over the air and in the digital space. The sports producer will perform many traditional functions, including assignment coordination and scheduling duties plus field producing. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly on all platforms. This includes identifying and posting compelling and shareable content to the web and social media, working with every member of the sports department to do the same, and executing an active strategy that drives page views. Line producing ability expected. Must have the capability of recognizing developments in ongoing stories, spotting interesting angles that go beyond box scores, and perform calmly and effectively in breaking situations. Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent required. Three years of sports producing experience or equivalent preferred. The individual must have expert knowledge of a television sports department’s video and story needs, web production, social media channels such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. News Producer/Writer (Part-Time/Temporary)
WJBK’s News Department is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a Producer/Writer. Individual will produce and write compelling newscasts. Will be responsible for generating stories, actively engaged in daily newsgathering, writing accurate broadcast copy for multiple platforms, including website and social media. Also responsible for coordinating coverage with the assignment desk and reporters. May be called on upon to field produce or write for other newscasts. Will create graphics and edit video for air and booth live newscasts during breaking news. Other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required. The candidate must possess a minimum of three years’ experience as a television newscast producer in a medium to major market. Candidate must have exceptional news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events, excellent communication and people skills. Must handle pressure well including the ability to handle breaking news. Knowledge of TV production techniques and newsroom computer systems required. Must be creative, detail-oriented and a problem solver. The ability to react quickly, multi-task, handle situations and meet deadlines in fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential. Traffic Assistant (Regular, Full-Time)
WJBK's Traffic Department is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a Traffic Assistant. Individual will be responsible for the accuracy of commercial spot placement, managing the inventory to ensure separation and maximization of inventory. Works closely with Sales Managers to ensure inventory is not unsold. Maintains related reports. Individual prints and distributes daily log and provides support to traffic personnel. In addition, candidate also serves as backup in Copy by maintaining commercial information to ensure accuracy of commercials aired. Responsibilities include maintaining commercial files, contacting ad agencies and gathering materials for production. Other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned.
Prior experience in Traffic preferred. Experience with Wide Orbit or other Traffic system a plus. Requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment is essential.
