Deceased Monsignor accused of sexual abuse of a minor

A deceased Monsignor has been accused of sexual assault of a minor, according to the Archdiocese of Detroit. 

Monsignor Thaddeus Ozog, who died in 1994, was accused of the act and the Archdiocesan Review Board has deemed the accusation credible.

The complaint has been shared with police and the review board has commissioned an independent investigation.

Through this investigation, they Archdiocese is seeking to speak with anyone who may have been a victim. 

Msgr. Ozog was a pastor at many local parishes including, Our Lady Help of Christians in Detroit (1956-1958), St. Columban in Birmingham (1958), Our Lady of the Lakes in Waterford (1958), St. Hillary in Detroit (1975), St. Mary in Wayne (1975), St. Roch in Flat Rock (1976-1978), and St. Florian in Hamtramck (1978-1994).

He was also an instructor, registrar, and rector at Scared Heart Seminary in Detroit from 1959 until 1975.

There are no deadlines on reporting the sexual abuse of minors by priests, deacons, and other church representatives to the Archdiocese and they encourage any possible victims to contact them at 866-343-8055.
