69-year-old man dead after crashing into Royal Oak home

A 69-year-old man is dead after crashing into a home Sunday around 8:00 p.m. in Royal Oak.

Authorities say officers and paramedics responded to a home in the area of Lloyd and Woodland after receiving a 911 call from the homeowner who reporting a crash.

When officers got there they say the car was on its side, resting against the house. Emergency responders had to rescue the driver from the vehicle, police say.

The preliminary investigation determined the driver may have had an unknown medical episode prior to the crash. Police say a witness said the driver was driving erratically before the crash.

The driver was transported to Beaumont Hospital and was pronounced dead.

Nobody inside the home was hurt, and the crash caused minor damage.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Royal Oak Police Department at 248-246-3500.
