YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) - Her case remains unsolved but her family invites everyone to raise a glass and remember a girl named Egypt.
A new beer from Arbor Brewing Company is honoring the life and memory of Egypt Covington, found shot to death at her Belleville home last summer.
"Whether you knew her or not, she was just a beautiful human being and she touched a lot of people out there. So I know there's going to be a lot of interest in the product for sure, so we're going to everywhere that we can," said Rick Lack of Rave Associates.
Egypt worked as a sales rep for a beer distributor, and the idea for the new drink came about while loved ones were mourning her loss.
Lack says Arbor Brewing Company let them borrow their building for Egypt's memorial and the 500 to 600 people who showed up wanted to hold on to some part of her life.
The new beer is called A Girl Named Egypt and is filled with features personal to her life. It's a double white IPA, with peach and passion fruit -- flavors Egypt enjoyed. Pieces of Egypt are even included in the design of the can and packaging.
On the packaging are images of her passions which include a microphone, and there's a picture of her likeness as well as her handwriting.

The beer's release has been timed to coincide with what would have been Egypt's birthday, July 19. But it will first be on tap at Comerica Park this weekend. Look for it at other restaurants and shops later this month.
"When you get an opportunity to drink it, you're going to enjoy the product," Lack said.
Police named a person of interest in Egypt's murder earlier this year but so far there have been no arrests.
