Funeral Friday for fallen Detroit police officer Glenn Doss

- The community will gather Friday to honor Detroit Police Officer Glenn Doss Jr.

Doss was shot one week ago while responding to a domestic call. He died a few days later in the hospital. The 25-year-old officer had been with the department for roughly two years.

His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. You can follow along live with the service here on our Facebook page

Doss and other officers were called to the 5500 block of McDougall last Wednesday night for reports of a couple arguing, and also possible shots fired. When they arrived, a 43-year-old suspect with a gun opened fire on them before they even got out of their patrol car, police said. Thirty bullet casings were found at the scene. Doss was hit twice.

The suspect barricaded himself inside his home for several hours after the shooting, but was eventually taken into custody. Decharlos Brooks is facing a slew of charges, including murder, assault and weapons charges.

Doss leaves behind an infant son.

Several organizations and community members have donated to pay for the expenses connected to Doss's funeral.
