(WJBK) - WEB UPDATE (5:35): Michael Quigley has been arrested by Oakland County Sheriffs and is in custody for a double shooting.
A Brandon Township resident spotted Quigley and held him at gunpoint until the authorities arrived. Quigley was found inside a vehicle that was not his, according to investigators.
A cell phone and gun were recovered belonging to shooting suspect Michael Quigley earlier Wednesday afternoon.
Quigley is wanted for shooting his wife and another man in their heads Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at an apartment in Ortonville on Village Court.
Both victims were able to communicate with deputies, with Stephanie writing notes and her friend able to speak. As of Wednesday afternoon, both were speaking with investigators.
A good friend of both Michael and Stephanie Quigley has strong words for the shooting suspect.
"I don't know why you did this," said neighbor Zundra LeMond. "A lot of people hate you. A lot of people want you dead."
They are the parents of four children, ages 6 to 12. Although only officially married last year, Stephanie separated from Michael and filed for divorce, it was something Michael couldn't handle.
"She's been terrified of Mike for a long time," said LeMond.
And Tuesday night in an Ortonville apartment, authorities say Quigley, 34, tracked down his wife who was visiting a male friend, Ryan. He knocked on the door, when it opened, Quigley pushed his way in- firing a total of five shots hitting Ryan in the eye, and putting a bullet in the back of Stephanie's head.
Ryan's 3-year-old daughter was in the apartment at the time of the shooting but was not hurt.
"The hospital is reporting that both of the victims are in stable condition," said Capt. Gary Miller, Oakland County Sheriff's Office. "They both sustained gunshot wounds to the head."
And both victims are reportedly talking. But the question remains, why did Quigleydo what he allegedly did?
"I never really talked to him that much to be afraid of him, but the grandkids didn't like him," said neighbor Sherry Paul. "They
liked her but not him."
"Michael wasn't around very much for his family," LeMond said. "I'm pretty sure we do the drugs.")
And in filing for a personal protection order, Stephanie argued that Quigley had a history of drug use, theft and mental issues. She said that he had a shrine of pictures of her and the kids and the animals - three dogs, a bird and rabbits.
The personal protection order was granted Wednesday after the shooting.
Quigley's wife filed for divorce last week, and a court hearing was scheduled for Wednesday regarding a protective order, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. We're told the male victim is the wife's new boyfriend. Both victims are in critical condition.
"We know [Quigley] was distraught over their separation. We talked to her family and friends; we know that to be true that's a domestic violence situation," says Capt. Gary Miller with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department.
Police say Quigley's wife and the man were both critically injured when they were shot in the head, but their conditions have since been upgraded to stable. Quigley and his wife had four kids together. We're told the male victim's 3-year-old daughter was also inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but that she wasn't injured.
Several schools and school districts were closed Wednesday also while authorities continued to search the area.
We're told Quigley was a former middle school wrestling coach in Lake Orion. That school district didn't close, but sent out a voice message to parents alerting them of the situation.
