Kid Rock confirms plans to run for U.S. Senate are real

- After tweeting his plans to run for U.S. Senate on Wednesday, Kid Rock is debunking reports that his announcement isn't true.

Kid Rock, real name Bob Ritchie, told the public he is running the U.S. Senate in the state of Michigan with a tweet confirming that the website www.kidrockforsenate.com is real.

Around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Kid Rock tweeted the following:

In his posting on kidrock, com, Mr. Rock explains:

"I’m not signed to Warner Bros!!! - which simple fact-checking would have revealed. I have recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS. Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I'm planning on putting out music during mine and IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. It's not a hoax, it's a strategy and marketing 101!"

He ends the post with a reference toward his possible challenger, Sen. Debbie Stabenow:

"Senator Stabenow and I do share a love of music, although probably not the same kind. I concede she is better at playing politics than I am so I'll keep doing what I do best, which is being a voice for tax paying, hardworking AMERICANS and letting politicians like her know that We the People are sick and tired of their bulls***!"

Stabenow's seat is up for re-election next year and she's held it since 2000. If he were to run - and win - it would be the first Republican candidate to win the seat since 1988.
