Kwame Kilpatrick's son releases music video calling for dad's freedom

- The son of former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has released a rap song, calling for the justice of his father.

In the video for the song, JoJo tha DoughBoi, otherwise known as Jonas Kilpatrick, is standing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, which turned down his father's bid for freedom.

The ex-mayor is doing 28 years in a federal prison sentence for wire fraud, mail fraud and racketeering. Meanwhile, there is an effort underway to reduce that sentence.

Those in the music video are wearing t-shirts that sport the hashtag FreeKwame. According to a relatively new website called The Free Kwame Project, the shirts are for sale and the $19.99 you pay will go to his Freedom and Justice Trust Fund.

According to Kwame's site, hiring an attorney would cost more than $40,000 for just a review and a recommendation on his legal case. So the family is trying to raise awareness and money any way they can.

It's unclear just how much money has been raised so far. The website also includes a blog from Kwame from prison.
