Man in custody after mother, two others found stabbed across Detroit

A fatal stabbing has occurred on Detroit's west side Sunday afternoon where a 42-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside of her home.

Police say the victim's brother went over to the house for a family gathering in the 12000 block of Heyden. When he arrived, he found the door already open and found the woman in the basement, lying on the floor with a severe cut on the left side of her throat. She was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect is the woman's son.

Police say the son also stole his mother's car, a 2007 Dodge Charger and crashed it before stabbing two more people.

Police also linked the suspect to a stabbing in the 10000 block of Rosemary, where police say the suspect got into an altercation and stabbed the victim in the hand. A man was also found critically wounded from a stabbing in the 18000 block of Wilshire.

The suspect was found in a vacant house on Promenade Street and is in police custody.

Police haven't yet given the name of the suspect, or said if the man knew the other two stabbing victims.
