Man killed in drive-by after dispute in downtown Detroit nightclub

- A drive-by shooting in Detroit kills a man after a dispute that began in a nightclub early Wednesday morning.

Dorian Heath, 24, was killed inside a car at at 2:30 a.m.

"I'm angered (they) just took my son, took his life for nothing," the victim's father, Cedric Wyatt said. "He was just beginning to live - 24 years old. Just beginning to live."

Wyatt says his son, who was living in Sterling Heights with his mother, decided to go out with his cousin and two friends Tuesday night. Heath was sitting in the passenger seat with his friends in back and his cousin driving. That's when police say a red Dodge Charger and a white Dodge Challenger pulled up next to them.

Suddenly bullets started flying with three hitting their car. Heath's cousin tried to speed away.

"He said my son slumped over, he said are you all right and then he got scared because he saw the puddle of blood," Wyatt said.

Heath's cousin flagged down a police officer who led them to Detroit Receiving Hospital. But not long after a doctor broke the news to Heath's parents.

"He was like he didn't make it. I said what do you mean," Wyatt said. "He said he got shot in the back of the head and in the back. He just didn't make it."

Heath's father says his son is usually a homebody rarely going out downtown or partying at all.

"He takes care of his grandmother, didn't do drugs - he never did any of that. Never," Wyatt said.

Police are working to get possible surveillance video and more information on those two cars involved. Meanwhile, Dorian Heath's family is hoping someone out there knows who violently took the life of this young man.

"Please stand up and say something," Wyatt said. "Come forward. Please come forward. That's my son."

If you'd like to make a donation to the family to help with the burial, you can do so via their GoFundMe account here.
