Mom says daughter tricked into sending nudes with app

- A metro Detroit mother has a warning for other parents after her child posted naked photos on a phone app.

She is devastated after learning her 8-year-old daughter was convinced by someone online to post naked pictures of herself.

"I have been crying," she said. "I feel like my daughter's pictures are out there and there is no way to get them back.

"Something has to be done about this app."

Her daughter met a person believed to be posing as a 13-year-old boy through an app called, a live streaming app.

"I clicked on it and it looks like a game app," the mother said.

But then she began to scroll through the messages.

"You see 'Go further up, lift your shirt up'" she said. "He said 'Do that picture laying down babe.'

"She ended up sending very exclusive pictures because she did not know it was wrong for her to send the pictures," she said. "She thought this person was her friend and that's not your friend because a friend is not going to have you send pictures like that."

The third grader ended up posting pictures of her private areas thinking she was sending the images to a 13-year-old boy.

The mother filed a report with Detroit police, convinced it was really a predator behind that profile. She says officers agreed.

"When I took it to police they pretty much figured it out and a specialist read through it," she said. "And they figured it out this is an adult doing this."

There are warnings on the internet about which is supposed to be for those 18 and over. The mom says she often checks her daughter’s phone.

All of this happened over a day and half, and the girl's mother says she never suspected this.

"It's not that I didn't have a better eye on it when she was doing it," she said. "Sneaking and doing it she was doing behind closed doors where we couldn't see she was lifting up her shirt like that.

"The (police) said they can catch this person and I hope they do so it won't happen to a young kid again."

The Detroit police and cyber-crime unit are investigating this case right now.
