New life coming to The Shores Theater in St. Clair Shores

A vacant theater in St. Clair Shores is getting a second act.

The Shores Theater will soon be turned into a restaurant/bar and live music venue.

The building sits on Greater Mack near Nine Mile near the heart of the city, and has been around since the 1930s. But it's also been sitting vacant for more than a decade.

Now the owner of the Butter Run Saloon is taking it over and restoring it to its former glory.

David Harden signed the sale papers just last week and renovations already started over the weekend. It's going to be a long process - the seats have to come out and the floor has to be leveled - but Harden's excited to bring life back to the building.

"We're bringing the theater back to life. It won't be a movie venue again, but it will have life."

The venue has yet to be named, but Harden says he plans on keeping The Shores Theater as the name for the entertainment part of the venue.

Harden says the timeline right now for the project to be finished is about two years.
