Two hurt in late night shooting on Southfield Freeway

Two people were hurt late Thursday night in a shooting on Southfield Freeway.

Michigan State Police had the freeway shut down on the northbound side between 7 and 8 Mile roads for a few hours overnight after two people showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds. MSP says the victims wouldn't give them any information but they were able to pinpoint the shooting to the Southfield Freeway around 10 p.m.

Police say the victims are 29 and 30 year old males, and that one is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition. Police didn't say how the men got to the hospital.

Police aren't sure right now why the shooting happened, if it may have been premeditated or part of road rage. Police do say, though, that this does not appear to be a random incident.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the Metro South Post at 734-287-5000.

The Southfield Freeway has since reopened.
