Victims of brutal Greektown Casino beating warning others

The Greektown Casino and Hotel served as the venue for a Labor Day bachelor party, but it was a night the group will never forget for all the wrong reasons. A brutal assault by three suspects sent two men to the hospital.

"I was in the ICU for two days and I have been in a neck brace for eight weeks," says one of the men. The two victims involved don't want to be identified.

That evening at 4 a.m. they were heading back to the casino floor when one of them bumped into a suspect on the casino floor.

"I happened to bump into one of these guys by accident," he says. "I apologized; he said he wanted to fight."

"He put his chest on my shoulder," says the second victim. "He put his nose right in my ear, trying to get me to go outside with him right away."

The two men said they tried to walk away but their attackers followed, attempting to instigate a fight.

"He sees that I'm with him and says immediately, ok, cool. You're going to get it too," says the second man.

"He walks in the door and all of a sudden, wham," the first victim says. "I hit the wall." The single shot knocked him out cold.

He doesn't remember anything after that. Meanwhile his friend was outnumbered three to one and was under attack.

"The other two stood over me punching me repeatedly, one after another," says the first victim. "And when we saw the security video from the prosecutors, you can see in the hallway 10 different spectators standing in the hallway watching and videotaping."

They estimate the attack went on for 25 seconds before security came in and broke it up. The two are so disturbed by what they saw as an unprovoked attack that they are speaking out as a warning to others.

"I just hope this doesn't happen to somebody else," one of the men says.

A spokesperson for the hotel says they can’t comment on the investigation but have provided all video of the assault to Detroit police and are working hand-in-hand to bring those responsible to justice.

Detroit police said they have identified one of the three suspects and have a warrant out for his arrest. If you know who the other two are call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You never have to leave your name.
