Woman falls, dies at Michigan's Pictured Rocks

A California woman has died after falling 200 feet at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Park rangers were called out to Chapel Beach around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a woman deceased. They later determined the 32-year-old died as a result of a fall.

Joe Hughes, chief ranger for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, told the Marquette Mining Journal the woman fell approximately 200 feet from a location between Grand Portal Point and Chapel Rock.

Authorities aren't sure yet if she was alone or with anyone else when she fell.

Her name is not being released yet until her family has been notified.
