Woman shot to death in drive-by on Van Dyke in Detroit

A 24-year-old Detroit woman was fatally shot in the early morning hours of Sunday in a drive-by.

Police say a woman got out of her car around 12:45 a.m. Sunday at Van Dyke near Mack and was walking when she was shot. Investigators say the gunman was inside a black Chrysler 300.

Witnesses described the final chaotic moments

"I heard 'Help' (three times)," said witness Tyrell Myles. "All I heard was pop. I think anything of it. I heard it from that church (down the street).

"I just heard a loud bang," said a woman who lives nearby. "A bang, bang, bang. And I just ran to the back of my room in my house."

FOX 2 reached out to the victim's family. Many of the victims' friends have posted on social media, expressing love for a woman they say will, "forever be 24."

Police were unable find any surveillance video, so they are asking for help from the public. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
