Young father one of 3 murdered at Detroit White Castle

- The mother of one of three men who were shot and killed inside a Detroit White Castle says her son was a young father who had just stopped at the Detroit restaurant to get a bite to eat.

Tonya Gadson is heartbroken after losing her son, Deshawn 'Tez' Gadson, in a shooting early Sunday morning. A little before 12:30 Sunday morning, two gunmen went into the White Castle at the corner of West Warren Avenue and Livernois Avenue on the city's west side.

The shooters hit Tez and two of his good friends, killing all three of them.

Tonya says her grandson isn't even 2 years old but will grow up without a father.

"His son ain't even two yet? How am I supposed to tell him he's gone? My older daughter says my grandson sits out the window looking for him crying - because he was crazy about his uncle," Gadson said.

Police said handguns were recovered from inside the lobby area, where windows of the restaurant were shot out. They're reviewing surveillance video to figure out who fired the shots - and why.

"We've lost so many young people due to senseless violence. As a mother I'm outraged, my heart hurts,. The community is outraged. They were young. The neighborhood is hurting for them and their families," Elizabeth Valdez, a friend of the victims, said.

White Castle's Vice President Jaime Richardson sent FOX 2 the following statement:

"As a family owned business, our number one priority and concern is the safety of our neighborhoods. We are working very closely with local law enforcement to support efforts as the investigation of this tragic and troubling event continues. We are thankful for the first responders who rushed to the scene and we are thankful none of our team members were physically harmed. We are providing our team access to counseling support."

Police do not have any further information the suspects or suspect vehicle and continue investigating.
