Young mother still missing after problems with her boyfriend

- A young mother has been missing for more than two months now. Her family is trying to stay positive and hopes someone will speak up about her whereabouts.

When 24-year-old Kayla Swanigan first disappeared on Oct. 9, 2018, her aunt claimed to have witnessed Kayla's boyfriend shoving her into a car near Dexter and Calvert on Detroit's west side.

"We may have some information about a guy who may have seen her last, please speak up and help us find my daughter," pleaded her father, Caleb Swanigan.

Caleb says his daughter had several problems with her boyfriend, from physical abuse to Kayla even shooting him over the summer. But the break-ups in this toxic relationship would not last for long. They two would always end up back together.

This time around, the family fears the worst.

On Crime Stoppers, loved ones gathered to plead for information that can bring them some closure.

"I miss her so much. If anyone knows anything, no matter how small how it is, come forward and speak up," said her grandmother, Shyrell Harris.

"We grew up together. She's like a best friend to me. You got all of us worried. Bring my cousin sister home to us, please," said Daneca Harris.

"I wonder if she's sick, if she's worried, if she's still alive. Please, just help us," said another cousin Faristina Collins.

The family says Kayla's disappearance has also taken a toll on her two children, including her 4-year-old daughter. Those close to Kayla say she would never be away from them.

Police haven't commented on the circumstances of Kayla's disappearance, or if they believe her boyfriend may be suspected in the case.

If you have any information about what happened to Kayla, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You will remain anonymous.
