This Flint woman drives around for hours looking for enough bottled water for her family

Most water drives in the city of Flint will hand out 1 case of bottles. That's 24 bottles for 24 hours for cooking, cleaning and drinking. But one woman FOX 2 spoke with says she has a very large family and, for her, one case is not enough.

In fact, Mrs. James says looking for water could be her full-time job. She says she spends around 5 or 6 hours each day driving around looking for water.

It's 8 a.m. She and her friends hop in the car and head to the local Lowe's in Flint. Lowe's partnered with a national radio show to give away 1,200 cases of water, but for Mrs. James, that case is just a drop in the bucket.

"I got the four kids there. So here, I'm cooking with it; I wash my meat off with it; and the kids wash up and everything. They don't brush their teeth with that water, they use bottled water. So, everything is used with this bottled water. I go through three cases, close to four cases a day," she says.

Down the street at Fire Station No. 1 on East 5th Street, a drive-thru line of people just like Mrs. James is waiting to see what will happen next. FOX 2's Maurielle Lue was told the fire station will hand out more than one case per day if you ask for it. They also have filter systems and test kits available as well.
