19 officers sworn in as new members of the Detroit Police Department

19 officers embark on a new career after they were sworn in as new members of the Detroit Police Department Friday.

The ceremony took place at Second Ebenezer Baptist Church. The chief told the grads that they had his support but he also issued a warning.

“If you commit a crime, if you engage in misconduct, my promise to you or anyone else that is being vetted by this great organization I will fire you,” Chief James Craig said.

The 19 new officers make up the class 2019b and the chief says there are four new languages among the new officers.
