2 arrested after parent, teacher robbed at gunpoint within minutes at different schools in Detroit

UPDATE: Two suspects were arrested in connection with four carjackings.

Two people are in custody after a parent was carjacked and a teacher robbed at gunpoint.

The two crimes happened within minutes of each other at schools that are across the street from each other.

The parent had just dropped her child off at Mackenzie Elementary-Middle School in Detroit Monday morning at Wyoming and Chicago, when someone opened her car door and ordered her out at gunpoint.

Police say about 15 minutes before that, a teacher was robbed by a person with a gun in the parking lot of Drew Transition Center across the street. The teacher gave up what she had and the suspect got into a gray Dodge that drove off.

Neither the teacher nor the parent were hurt.

Investigators believe the same pair is responsible for both crimes.
