As if Monday's snowstorm wasn't enough, we're about to see another few inches of winter wonderland dumped on the Detroit area.

Everyone loves snow before Christmas, right?! The good news is - we're getting more of it and it starts on Wednesday at noon.

Going back to Sunday, we've had a blast of snow come in every other day - and it continues on Wednesday.

THE TEMPERATURES

It's going to get dangerously cold Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. We'll get down into the single digits in some spots with a bitter wind hitting 30 MPH.

If you don't have to be outside, don't. It's warmer and drier inside.

THE SNOW

Between noon and midnight on Wednesday, a quick clipper system dives in out of Canada. Just like Monday and Saturday, it's expected drop another large chunk of snow.

Models are coming to agreement that most areas will see around 3 inches with some areas getting as much as 5 inches. In fact, this snow maker will likely bring slightly more snow than Monday's, which means, yes, you will have to shovel again.

THE TIMING

Let's be honest, the timing sucks. It's going to be messy for drivers on the way home from work Wednesday afternoon and evening. By 5 p.m., nearly 2 inches will already be on the ground and more falling.

Plan on a much longer than usual commute and lay off the accelerator. A longer, safer commute is always better than an accident.

Snow punches Michigan, drivers caught off guard

After this system we don't see many major snow makers for about a week. Flurries are expected on and off but the next big winter system may arrive on Christmas Eve. We'll keep an eye on it.
