Boyfriend in custody after suspicious hit-and-run in Harrison Twp

Authorities in Harrison Township say a man is in custody after a suspicious hit-and-run early Wednesday morning.

Deputies were called out to the area of Jefferson and Shook, near Ruth Motel, around 5:15 a.m. after a caller said a woman's body was in the road. Police have identified the woman as 33-year-old Danielle Labellarte of Warren.

Labellarte had been staying at the Ruth Motel with her boyfriend, who has been taken into custody for this incident, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said later on Wednesday.

The Office hasn't given any other details about the hit-and-run at this time.

Earlier, customers at the motel tell FOX 2 they heard arguing between a couple the night before, and one of those customers told us he may have seen the woman shortly before the accident.

"She was sitting over here on the grass and the manager, Mike, came out of room 11 and yelled at her, chased her off, and she walked across the street and that's the last I seen her [sic]," said the customer, who did not wish to be identified.

Authorities haven't yet confirmed if the argument is related to the hit-and-run death. Authorities have also not yet given the name of the suspect, and say a report will be given to prosecutors on Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies stayed at the motel for several hours Wednesday, talking with the manager and looking over surveillance video.
