Davontae Sanford and his brother recently moved to Arizona, he says they just wanted to start a new life, and he goes on to say that what happened this week was just one big misunderstanding.

At just 15 years old he was imprisoned for a quadruple murder in Detroit that he did not commit. He was released in 2016 at 24 years old.

But this week police in Phoenix arrested Sanford for aggregated assault with a deadly weapon.

They had a video posted that was posted on instagram or Facebook  where we were in the mountains shooting a fire arm, all of the bullets were out of my fire arm and I turned the gun towards my friend, or whatever,” Sanford said.

Sanford is out on bond now but he says the police are constantly driving by the house he shares with his brother.

“Its nerve wrecking, it’s scary. I don’t even go outside anymore, I have someone else go check my mailbox, I’m literally a prisoner all over again” he said.

Authorities say Sanford was shooting an AR-15 near houses but Sanford says he was shooting at mountains in the desert.

“At the end of the day it was nothing but a misunderstanding, No one got hurt, I didn’t do anything wrong, the guns were legally purchased. I understand the right from wrong I had nine years to figure that out, nine years for a crime I didn’t commit,” Sanford said.
