A donation jar for a murder victim's family was stolen at a Pontiac gas station.

The goal was to raise about $2,400 for the funeral and at last count there was more than $300 inside the jar. Now the fund for Beth Ruiz to bury her son, is back to zero.

"When the gas attendant turned around, you see him taking the jar and shoving it down his pants," said Ruiz.

The man is seen on video stealing the jar from the gas station at Montcalm and Baldwin in Pontiac at 3 a.m. Tuesday. She says two other people helped him.

She sought to raise the money for Austin Reinhardt's funeral.

"I don't know how you found it in your heart to do that," Ruiz said. "How do you look in the mirror; how do you lay down at night? That stuff right there would give me nightmares."

Reinhardt, a 23-year-old father of three, was shot to death last week near Blaine and High streets on May 3.

"I have to be there tomorrow at 12 to make my son's funeral home happy," she said. "The scariest thing in the world to me is him being there too long and his body starting to change.

"He's got little kids and I don't want them to see that."

If you recognize the man in the video or the other two accomplices, please contact the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
