Family: restraining order taken out on man before triple shooting

- A manhunt is ongoing for a suspect in a triple shooting, an ex-boyfriend who wounded his former girlfriend and her new beau, while killing her mother.

Cornelius Dennis, 32, was named by police as the suspect, while the family is mourning the loss of Roberta Martin who was identified as the victim fatally wounded Monday morning.

"I am just reeling over this," said Lisa Walker. "My sister liked to help people and was just a nice person."

According to police the fatal shooting took place just before 3 am at a home on Kensington Street.  Police say a 29-year-old woman inside the home, who the family has identified as Jasmine Williams, heard movement at a side door. Police say it was her ex-boyfriend entering the house.

"She had taken out a restraining order on him and I don't know what happened with it," said Walker.

Police say the man went to Roberta Martin's bedroom where his ex-girlfriend's mother was and started shooting.  He then shot Williams, and her 33-year old male friend.

Both were rushed to a local hospital to get treatment for their injuries.

Investigators described Dennis as standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. He's known to drive a black 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 pick-up truck with an extended cab and a Tonneau cover. The license plate is DSL 1817.

As family members gather at the hospital to wait for answers they say they hold the suspect will do the right thing.

"I hope he'll turn himself in or be apprehended," Walker said.

The family says it will be emotionally difficult but they will try to move on without their loving sister

"Just having faith in God," Walker said. "And just trust in him that he knows what's best in these situations."
