DETROIT (WJBK) - A police situation at a motorcycle club on the city's west side has been cleared, according to Detroit police.
Detroit police thought a 35-year-old man had barricaded himself with guns inside the Soul Devils Motorcycle Club early Tuesday morning. Police now say the man left the club before police ever arrived.
Police say a man and a woman shot each other during an argument about sexual intercourse. Police say he shot the woman in the face, and that she was grazed by the bullet. Police say the woman shot the man in the arm.
An ambulance took the woman to the hospital, and police say the man drove himself to a different hospital. The woman is expected to be okay, but police didn't elaborate on the man's condition at this time.
After the shooting, authorities surrounded the club, which is in the 13000 block of Plymouth Road near Schaefer Highway, thinking the man was still inside. Just after 8:15 a.m. they determined the suspect was no longer in the building.
Police say the man and the woman attended a party at the motorcycle club and were both intoxicated.
Police treated this as a barricaded gunman situation because they believed he was still inside. They say it appears one person is still inside drunk, asleep on a pool table.
Police say the male shooter has been arrested. They're unknown at this time if the woman will face charges, as she may have been acting in self defense.
