Man in custody after shooting into Detroit home overnight

DETROIT (FOX 2) - A man is under arrest in Detroit after police say he was shooting into a home. This isn't the first time we've heard of this happening, and it's believed to be connected to a story FOX 2 brought you last month.

Police were called out to Wildemere near Hazelwood on the city's west side around 2:15 a.m. for reports of shots fired. When they arrived they found a 31-year-old suspect running from the area. While doing so, he apparently tossed at least two guns. 

"We were in the bed and the windows got shot out and the only reason I knew it was gunshots is because there was glass popping everywhere," Judy Brantley told us. Her 76-year-old mother and two young children were also sleeping in the home. 

"To see a bullet hole over the head of my granddaughter? There are not too many words to describe that," she said. 

Sources tell us the suspect now in custody may have also opened fired on the home of an 84-year-old woman in the 2000 block of Clairmount back in early November. Thankfully, she was not hurt but we are told her house had been targeted several time in recent months.

Police say the suspect shot up seven different homes in the area. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Meanwhile, our cameras were there Wednesday as investigators executed a search warrant on the suspect's home near both shooting scenes. They want answers and so do those caught in the crossfire. A source tells us demonic writings, drawings and books were found at the suspect's house.

FOX 2 spoke with the suspect's brother, and they live with their mother, who was evacuated from the home.

"Right now her health is important and that's what I'm trying to see about," she said.

Officers were committed the man neighbors say has been terrorizing their community. Police Chief James Craig said he had no criminal history, just a curfew violation.
