Detroit Police are searching for two masked gunmen after a man and a woman were found shot to death.

The double shooting happened at a home in the 10000 block of Patton Street, which is near Plymouth and Evergreen roads on the city's west side.

Police say there was a knock at the door, and the man answered. He then tried to run out of the house and was fatally shot on the front lawn.

Police say the woman was found, dead, with a gunshot wound to the head in the family room of the home.

Dozens of family and friends have flooded the scene in the aftermath of the shooting, having a difficult time processing what happened. Police haven't given a motive for the shooting yet. They're looking for two masked gunmen who left the area in a white Dodge SUV.

Those family members tell us the victims are 48-year-old Erik Couch and 45-year-old Tamika Garner. They say they'd be dating for several years and were engaged to be married. They also say the couple didn't have any enemies and would've given an intruder whatever they wanted.

Witnesses tell us they heard as many as 20 shots around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Family members at the scene tell us three older children were also at the home at the time, and that one of the kids had to jump out a window to safety.
