Men charged in transgender woman attack bound over with $1.5M bond

- The two men charged with assault with intent to murder a transgender woman last month in Detroit were bound over for circuit court Wednesday.

Detroit residents 21-year-old Charles Brown and 19-year-old Jujuan Williams appeared in 36th District Court for a preliminary exam. Both are accused of attacking a 36-year-old transgender woman walking in the 17800 block of Woodward near Worcester on Nov. 17.

Two men charged in shooting of transgender woman on Woodward

The victim was rolled into the courtroom in a wheelchair, nearly unable to walk from the bullet wounds -- two in her arm, and three in her back.

She described the night she was walking down Woodward, when the men pulled up and jumped out of a car, armed with a semi-automatic rifle.

They ordered her to drop everything.

"I told him there's a camera right there - don't do this," she recalled.

Despite following directions and running away, police say Brown fired five shots at her, striking her three times, as Williams took her purse.

Each defendant's bond will remain at $1.5M cash surety, despite defense's push for $100,000.

They are scheduled to return to court Dec. 20.
