Michigan State Police reopen 94 after shooting investigation

Michigan State Police has reopened I-94 in Detroit after sweeping for evidence related to four shootings on the highway last Thursday morning.

The westbound lanes of I-94 between Conner and Gratiot were closed at 11 a.m. to search the area. Around 1 o'clock, the interstate was open again. MSP had planned to close I-96 between Livernois and Davidson for a similar investigation but said that due to safety reasons, they would not be searching on Monday.

Police said they've been investigating multiple shootings Thursday morning at I-94 and French Road as well as two shootings on I-96. One man was hit in the leg on I-94 near Gratiot, while two other shootings occurred on I-96. A fourth victim came forward over the weekend.

On Sunday, Michigan State Police said that the four shootings at I-94 and French road were all from one single incident. They did not say how the I-96 shootings were connected.

More police are patrolling the freeway, and they want motorists to be aware of their surroundings while driving.

Police are looking for a silver or gray sedan in connection to the shootings. If anyone has information about that as well - call police at (313) 237-2450.
