MSP confident murdered jogger knew her attacker

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - Police have identified the female jogger who was shot and killed in Rose Township but they haven't identified who pulled the trigger.

31-year-old Ally Brueger was shot and left to die on the front lawn of a house on Fish Lake Road in Rose Township Saturday afternoon. The man who owned the home found the woman's body and made a frantic call to 911 while a neighbor tried to keep her alive.

It was too late. The woman did not survive and police are still trying to figure out if she may have known her killer.

Ally's parents say she lived with them in their Holly township home. She was a registered nurse at Providence Park Hospital in Novi. She was working on getting her masters degree so she could pursue her passion of creative writing. Her friends and family say she was an avid runner and not a day went by that she was not out jogging her usual route in Rose and Holly Townships.

It all came to an end Saturday.

"She was only 31 years old. She hadn't been married yet. She didn't get to have a family," her friend Thais Peck said.

Ally's killer is still on the loose and Michigan State Police are investigating. They say they're searching for a white or light-colored 4-door sedan that was seen near the scene on Fish Lake Road around the time of the shooting.

"I think it would be irresponsible to say that it couldn't be random because it's a possibility, but I think from what we've found on scene and some of our gut instincts, and past incidents, she knew who her attacker was," MSP Lt. Michael Shaw said.

Ally's parents, Franz and Nicolette, released this statement to FOX 2:

"Ally was our beloved, only child.  She was kind, thoughtful, considerate...Her wish would have been to have all of her organs donated, but because of the senseless way she perished that was not possible...We know that her life mattered to the people that she touched."
