KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (FOX 2) - A man is in custody after a police officer was shot in the face during a traffic stop overnight near Saginaw.
Authorities had been looking for 29-year-old Joshua Rosebush since around 2 a.m., when the officer was shot.
Michigan State Police said around 1 p.m. that Rosebush was taken into custody after a brief pursuit in Shiawassee County. MSP says Rosebush shot at officers during the pursuit and they shot back, injuring him. MSP didn't say yet how badly he was hurt. No officers were injured.
The Saginaw Twp. officer was shot in the face when he was attempting a traffic stop. The suspect then drove off.
The Saginaw Township Police Chief Don Pussehl says the officer was able to radio for help, and described the officer's condition as "somewhat stable."
Police have not yet given the name of the officer who was hurt.
MSP said earlier that the suspect had been driving a stolen vehicle.
