Royal Oak seniors robbed at gunpoint, granddaughter drove getaway car, police say

- The Royal Oak Police Department said it has arrested three people after a senior couple was robbed at gunpoint. One of the suspects is the granddaughter of the victims.

Police said they were called to a home in the 2300 block of Elmhurst around 12:45 Tuesday morning. Police said two people entered the home and robbed the two at gunpoint.

Officers searched the area and a K-9 officer was called to the scene. A Pleasant Ridge officer, who heard the call for suspects, spotted a vehicle that matched the description heading south on Woodward. 

The driver of the car was the granddaughter of the two people robbed. 

All three were arrested on charges of home invasion and armed robbery.

"These arrests are another great example of the teamwork and cooperation of the law enforcement agencies in our area," said Chief Corrigan O'Donohue.

During the incident, one of the suspects pushed the elderly male victim to the floor, causing a minor injury. All three suspects are being held on charges of Home Invasion and Armed Robbery
