Suspect arrested in murder of Detroit firefighter Jack Wiley II

The Detroit Police Department has arrested a suspected wanted in the murder of a Detroit firefighter who was found dead in his own home earlier this week.

Detroit Police tell FOX 2 that an 18-year-old man has been arrested in the murder of Jack Wiley II.

Wiley was found dead Tuesday inside his home by his sister after he didn't show up for work. He was a second generation firefighter dedicated to serving his city, his father said Wednesday.

"Once you become a Detroit firefighter in this city, you serve everyone in this city and everyone that you serve is a family so we are a city family," he said.

The firefighter was found dead in his home Tuesday morning in the 15000 block of Penrod on the city's west side.

Wiley worked at squad 1 for the DFD and his fellow firefighters were concerned when he didn't show up for work Tuesday morning. When they checked his home, his car was gone and they contacted family.

His sister went to his home and found him dead inside the house.

Police at the scene say the man's SUV was stolen but was recovered burned up later in the day.
