Police in Oklahoma say a man who wore adult magazines that he taped to his body was in "survival mode" when he tried to stab his former neighbor.

Neighbors told KXII that tensions between Donald Gaither and his neighbor had been brewing for a few weeks. Sunday morning, they came to a head when Gaither allegedly taped adult magazines to his body and challenged him to a knife fight.

Not surprisingly, the county sheriff said Gaither was drunk.

"He appeared to be intoxicated somewhat, he did comply with the officer when he ordered him to the ground--at gunpoint--and he was holding knives in both hands whenever the deputy confronted him," Sheriff John Christian said.

The sheriff said Gaither has served time in prison and he said this was how they protected themselves in a fight.

According to the sheriff, Gaither believed that his neighbor had gotten him kicked out of the trailer park and that was why he confronted him.

When officers arrived, he told deputies that he was in "survival mode," the Ada News reports. When deputies tried to stop him, they said he picked up his pace and tried to hide the knives before they ordered him to the ground and arrested him.

When they searched him, deputies told the Ada News that he had two more knives on his belt and a weight attached to a lanyard designed “to use as a weapon to swing at someone.”

Gaither was arrested and taken to the local jail where he was photographed in his makeshift body armor.
