The Recovery Project's special techniques helping people get mobility back

Charlie Parkhill was enjoying a much-needed vacation with his wife when tragedy struck in the blink of an eye. An accident left him with a spinal cord injury.

Doctors told him he would never regain meaningful function or walk again, but Charlie was not willing to accept that prognosis.

Now, he and his therapist Polly Swingle aren't just rewriting his future, they're doing it for many others, too, with The Recovery Project.

The Recovery Project-the launch of their new FES Specialty Center, which leverages highly advanced, cutting edge equipment to essentially help mimic the benefits of exercise in the muscles of patients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological disorders. The Recovery Project is one of the only physical therapy clinics in Michigan to have this equipment, and the only one to have the RT600 stepper, the first system of its kind to allow patients the ability to bear their own weight while stepping.
