Donut dessert ideas from Daily Dozen Doughnuts

(WJBK) - Daily Dozen Doughnuts has been named one of the best doughnut shops in Detroit by the website Thrillist. They joined us in studio to tell us celebrate National Donut Day on Friday, June 3.

Owner Kurt Sinnamon tell us donuts aren't just for breakfast, and he has a few ways you can repurpose the donut to make an extra special treat. You can find his donut dessert ideas below.

Daily Dozen Detroit Sundae:
Take one warm Daily Dozen chocolate honey dipped doughnut and slice it in half
Add two (or more) scoops of Ray's vanilla ice cream in between the two slices
Drizzle with Sanders hot fudge
Top with whipped cream, and a cherry if desired

Daily Dozen Fourth of July Pie:
Use one warmed Apple Stick
Line up two scoops of vanilla ice cream next to the Apple Stick
Drizzle with caramel fudge sauce

Daily Dozen Palate Cleanser:
Blueberry chip doughnut
1 scoop of lemon sorbet
Garnish with fresh blueberries and mint
