Roastin' the Rev Nov. 17 to benefit Cass Community Social Services

A big night of laughs is coming up this Thursday, and Cass executive director Rev. Faith Fowler will be feeling the heat.

The comedy roast of Rev. Fowler is Thursday, November 17 at DeCarlo's Banquet and Concention Center in Warren.

Guests of Roastin' the Rev? will enjoy an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner and a comedy roast featuring a panel of funny folks, fearless in the face of Rev. Faith's retribution.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the dinner and roast begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 and the event benefits Cass Community Social Services.

MAGICAL WILD MUSHROOM COMPOTE

  • 1/3 c extra virgin olive oil
  • ½# leeks (whites only) Sliced
  • 2# sliced button mushrooms
  • 2# sliced crimini mushrooms
  • 4ozs. Dried porcini mushrooms
  • 4ozs. Dried morel mushrooms (preferably michigan or minnesota)
  • 1 quart heavy cream
  • To taste- salt and pepper

Method:
Sweat the leeks in the olive oil until translucent. Add the sliced button and crimini mushrooms and cook until all moisture is evaporated. Meanwhile, put dried wild mushrooms in containers and just cover with hot water. Once the dried mushrooms are rehydrayted, squeeze the essence from them and add the liquid and the rehydrated mushrooms to the pot. Cook until all mushroom essence is au sec and add cream. Reduce cream until very thick. Chill until ready for service.
