Got the winter itch? Dry skin can wreak havoc on your face, arms, and legs. Good news? There are some over the counter solutions to your needs.
Dr. Joanna Gammons said first off, don't take a shower. It can be warm but not too hot. And once you're in, don't be in for longer than five minutes; it will dry your skin out even more. She also said to use soap that is low in detergent levels.
Also, skip the hand sanitizer. Though it will kill bacteria, it also dries your skin significantly.
But the real secret, she says, is emu oil. You can pick it up at many local pharmacies including Vitamin Shoppe, Gammons said, and it only costs $14. Add a little to your moisturizer and it will change things dramatically.
